“engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond”
Prior to any assignment, we were required to analyze different student samples of the assignment we would soon start to work on in order to see what is expected from us. With the different genres that we had to write with, there were also various student samples throughout the semester. The student samples usually followed the requirements but have small aspects missing from them for us to identify with the genre analysis questions provided for us.
The questions that we would answer for the genre analysis were:
- What is the goal? Is it well-supported or not? Discuss.
- What is done well with this self-assessment? What needs improvement?
- Is self-citation present? Does that help with comprehension, credibility, and persuasion? How? Why or why not?
- What do you notice about the conclusion?
- Does the self-assessment contain the genre conventions discussed in the PowerPoint? Explain.

The image above was taken from the genre analysis that we had to do for the samples regarding the final portfolio project. The questions were answered briefly depending whether the sample followed the prompt or not correctly.
