“formulate and articulate a stance through and in your writing”

For the most part, in this course, we were given the flexibility to come up with the topic and purpose of each assignment given we just fulfill the prompt. Having this ability gave us the ability to also formulate a stance within our writing which would allow us to take a position and target our audience more effectively.

For example, for the memo assignment, my group and I were allowed to choose an issue to target the president of the City College of New York. The topic we chose was related to the lack of advisors available for students in the school. Since we came up with that specific issue, it was already given that our stance was in favor of the increase of advisors in the school.
